One of the criticisms of Disney + shows by fans have been the runtimes. However, the runtimes for Secret Invasion‘s first two episodes have fans pleased for once. According to one insider the opening twp episodes of Secret Invasion have a runtime of 52 Mins 44 Seconds and 55 Mins 28 seconds respectively.

If we look at the current Marvel and Star Wars shows, the only times we tend to push into runtimes this long is in season finale’s, if that. There are certainly some shows where I’d give feedback that longer episodes and less episodes overall would have been a better call. However I guess that is subjective.

Sometimes with a show that’s too short, you feel like you get wasted filler episodes. Longer shows from the likes of HBO and Netflix can also feel that way, but then it feels more like it’s dragging. On some Disney shows though, you feel like you have just started watching and you’re at the end already. Guess I need to wait till next week. I’m not sure if there is a sweet spot, or that some shows are so good you don’t notice longer runtimes. However, if a 35 minute episode feels like pure filler, you just instantly think, why not cut it?

I guess it really does depend on the show and the trailers so far have Secret Invasion pegged as a bit more mature and grounded. Whether that translates into the show is however another matter? I mean, I’m sure we’ve all seen the trailer that makes Mary Poppins seems like a horror movie. So I’m hopefully for a bit more story here to sink our teeth into, but we shall see.

Secret Invasion drops onto Disney+ June 21, and I hope we are all excited by what we see.
