THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR is a property that seemingly keeps on giving. The 1968 Steve McQueen film was remade in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan. Now, after several years of potential sequel talks- with Brosnan back in the title role- it’s going to be remade again!
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR directors Joe and Anthony Russo are attached to produce the remake. Michael B. Jordan, hot off of the success of CREED, has signed on to star in the film. If this new THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR follows the blueprint of the previous iterations, it’ll be a heist film. In both versions, millionaire Crown orchestrates an ingenious heist that leads to a game of cat-and-mouse with the female insurance investigator assigned to look into the robbery. In both versions, the investigator (played by Faye Dunaway in 1968 and Rene Russo in 1999) and Crown end up falling in love with each other.
MGM is producing this new THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR.
What do you think? Personally, I would’ve rather seen Brosnan go full silver fox and return for another heist instead of yet another remake.
