It’s hard to believe that FX’s American Horror Story has already been around for 7 seasons and still going strong. During a panel for American Horror Story: Cult, co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy revealed a few details about season 8. Thanks to Deadline we have the details.
The last season of American Horror Story: Cult, dealt with very sensitive political themes. On stage with Murphy were cast members Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman. As part of the interactive panel, Murphy allowed the cast members and one fan a yes or no questions. But before that, he revealed that season 8 will start shooting around June 16.
Paulson asked about the next season’s timeline, when would it take place? In response, Murphy said:
“It is set in the near future (…) I will say it is set 18 months from today.” Speaking about the tone of the eight season he said that it will be “heightened” and that, “We’re sort of getting back to the ‘Asylum,’ ‘Coven’ feeling. That’s the tone of it.”
Peters had an interesting question for Murphy, “Will we be wearing wigs?” Which was interesting because Murphy then revealed to Peters:
“You know this show is so hard, it’s so difficult to do. So your part this year is a comedic part, you are comedic and you play a hairstylist.”
This prompted for the revelation that Joan Collins will be playing Peter’s grandmother in the show.
Even with Murphy’s recent $300 million Netflix deal, it is very clear that he is very passionate about American Horror Story saying that, “One of the great joys of my life is doing this show. I love this show so much.” With it still going strong into its eighth season, it’s clear that audiences are enjoying it as well. It is unknown at the moment what the official title for this season will be although it is rumored to be titled “Radioactive”.
