Last week, I mentioned how the sheer magnitude of the fandom for superhero films has changed the way we talk about them. Fans get caught up in so many of the smallest details, partially because these films are announced so far in advance these days that we simply need something, anything to talk about during the arduous wait. In that piece, we discussed the latest scuttlebutt coming out of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR‘s test screenings. Today we look at the official running time for the picture.
Modern day blockbusters, at least ones that try to seem important and not just popcorn filler, tend to stretch past the two hour mark. STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS clocked in at two hours and sixteen minutes. BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will reportedly run two hours and thirty-one minutes. Now comes news that CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will be two hours and twenty-six minutes long, making it Marvel’s longest movie yet. This is according to Event Cinemas.
So it sounds like the story will have plenty of time to build to a satisfying conclusion, while setting up what’s to come in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The wait for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will end soon, when the film comes out on May 6.
You pumped? Tell your friends! Share this post on your wall and see what people think about getting to spend 146 minutes with their favorite Marvel heroes- which will include SPIDER-MAN this time around!
