A new four part documentary Balance: A Perimenopause Journey is a series for everyone to watch. Because balance is what we all seek as our anatomy changes courtesy of mother nature. Thanks to the filmmakers, Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti we get to learn about alternatives to feeling ourselves as we step into our perimenopause phase. Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT) is okay because we deserve to feel “normal.”
The Synopsis
Balance: A Perimenopause Journey follows Siddhali and Anubhuti as they explore one of the most universal, yet least discussed, transitions in a woman’s life: perimenopause. As the filmmakers begin experiencing their own symptoms, they uncover how silence, stigma, and widespread misinformation have left generations of women suffering in the dark. Through intimate storytelling, expert perspectives, and deeply personal revelations, Balance exposes the truth about hormones, health, and the human experience. More than a documentary, Balance is a call to awareness – an invitation for women, partners, and medical professionals to finally understand this profound and transformative stage of life – one that impacts over 85 million women in the U.S.
Sadhvi Siddhali Shree is a US Army Iraq veteran and today an activist for social justice that has led her to now be known to be an international speaker, author, documentarian and filmmaker. All while holding the position as the first North American Jain female-monk. She began her filmmaking journey in 2016 as an executive producer for Scream and Shout. She made her debut as a director in Stopping Traffic: The Movement to End Sex-Trafficking. She is currently working on The Master series.

Sadhvi Anubhuti is also an activist filmmaker. Born in Toluca, Mexico and is the first Mexican and Hispanic Jain Monk. She holds the position of operations director of Siddhayatan Tirth and Spiritual Retreat. She stepped into filmmaking as an assistant director in the Stopping Traffic 2017 documentary. That lead being the director of photography and co-produce Surviving Sex Trafficking. Anubhuti joined her mentor Sadhvi Siddhali Shree as producer of The Master.
I had the opportunity to connect with Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti to talk about Balance: A Perimenopause Journey. They discussed their work in making the film and bringing both sides of the story when it comes to the use of HRT. They also spoke about the dismissal women get from their own physicians and the personalities that joined the documentary to provide the information needed and much more!
