Sam Neill On Playing Alan Grant And What’s Really Going On In Loki’s Asgardian Play

Actor Sam Neill is known as, ‘Jurassic Park Guy,’ to many moviegoers. I’m not sure what the actor thinks of that label, I can see him feeling both frustrated and thinking, Well, “I guess it’s better than NOT being the Jurassic Park Guy.”

It’s true, even though I am well aware that Neill has done tons of other work, first and foremost he will be Dr. Alan Grant. An iconic character in one of the best films ever made. Yes, Jurassic Park is on that list. Where exactly? I’m not sure. I rarely give films I put on that list a number, they’re just, on the list.

Neill recently spoke with Collider, and talked about being unsure of how to play Dr. Grant until Jurassic Park III. You can check out what he had to say below.

“By the time I got to number three, probably a bit late in the day I’d sort of worked out how to play that character, and, which I hadn’t really gotten around to in the first one. I was still trying to work out how, how do you play that guy in the hat?”

Well, Mr. Neill, you play the guy in the hat exactly the way you’ve been playing him.

Neill was then asked about Loki’s play at the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok. If he, Matt Damon, and Luke Hemsworth were Asgardians, acting in the play? Or if they had been kidnapped by Loki and being forced to participate in the play.

Neill had a good chuckle in response to the question. He continued explaining how he wasn’t quite sure what was going on in the film when he went to watch it. This one is better heard than read, so instead of typing out the quote, I’ve cued up the video above for you folks. enjoy.

No matter what the truth is, from now on I’m just going to go with the three of them are being held captive by Loki and are made to act in his play.
