Prime Video has released the first images and poster for the new action-thriller, Samaritan. The film will feature Sylvester Stallone, a classic superhero tale. Years ago, his character Mr. Smith, was the superpowered hero, Samaritan. But after a battle with his rival, most people thought he was dead. The only believer left out there is a thirteen-year-old boy that is sure that his neighbor used to be a superhero. The film is scheduled to be released exclusively on the streaming platform on August 26th, 2022.
With the superhero genre the bread and butter of so many films and television shows, it will be interesting to see if Samaritan offers anything different. Especially with an older Stallone as the centerpiece of the cast. Javon “Wanna” Walton has starred in several series like Prime’s Utopia and I think he will be a great part of the film. Based on what I see, most of the film will feature a growing relationship between the boy and the former superhero. We’ll have to wait a see how much action this film offers.
Here is the official synopsis from Prime Video
Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.
