The American Civil War was a dark time in history.

With states divided, hundreds of thousands of people were killed as cities and homes were razed and burned.

In Savage State, it’s a western movie of a French family trying to flee the Midwest to New York for a boat back to France. However, their path proves to be far dangerous than imaginable.

The movie starred Alice Isaaz, Kevin Janssens, Deborah Francois, Bruno Todeschini, Constance Dolle, Armelle Abidou, Maryne Bertieaux, and Kate Moran. David Perrault directed and wrote the screenplay.

Here’s the official synopsis:

The American Civil War breaks out…..a family of French colonists, settled in Missouri, decides to go back to France. Edmond, Madeleine, and their three daughters have to cross the whole country to reach New York. They are led by the mysterious and dangerous mercenary Victor.

Samuel Goldwyn Films releases Savage State on January 29.
