Santa Barbara Film Festival honors some of the best directors of last year with the Outstanding Directors of the Year Award.
Five directors were honored at the event, including Paul Thomas Anderson for Licorice Pizza, Kenneth Branagh for Belfast, Jane Campion for The Power of the Dog, Ryusuke Hamaguchi for Drive My Car, and Steven Spielberg for West Side Story.
At the event, Anderson and Branagh were physically attending to accept the award. Hamaguchi, Spielberg, and Campion accepted their awards remotely.
The event was sponsored by The Hollywood Reporter and featured a one-on-one conversation with all the event’s honorees.
Other guests were also in attendance at the event, including Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Power of the Dog and many of the actors and filmmakers of the festival. Filmmakers and actors also in attendance included Wendla Nolle, Djino Grimaudo, Ilonna Grimaudo, Lorenza Grimaudo, and Bertrand Tessier.
