It wasn’t too long ago that the Harvey Weinstein scandal was being painted across headlines worldwide. It’s a scandal that’s had an incalculable impact on the industry, and its effects could be felt for decades to come. It seems only natural that the industry that allowed this atrocity take advantage of it in a feature film of sorts.
As of this writing, there are three projects in development on some level about Weinstein, but we’re here to talk about one specifically. According to THR, there’s one specific narrative feature script making the rounds in Toronto. The film is untitled, but it’s written by Casting JonBenet‘s Kitty Green, and in it, we follow the assistant of the disgraced mogul.
The film is being described by a film exec who was able to nab the script as “sort of Devil Wears Prada-esque — a young girl begins working for a monster boss.”
But will this assistant actually be based on a real person? The report sells it as a “real-life assistant” that those who worked for the studio would be able to identify, but goes on to contradict itself a bit, saying that she won’t be based on a single person. Green herself spent 10 months interviewing people and thumbing through public records to create this amalgamation of a character.
What do you think of this project? Do you think the film will, ironically, be up for numerous awards come Oscar season following its release? Let us know down below!
