If you didn’t already know Marvel star Sebastian Stan is playing Harvey Dent in The Batman: Part II and teases surprises in a recent interview. Speaking with Deadline, Stan discussed his career past, present and future and talked turned to The Batman: Part II directed by Matt Reeves.
‘The Batman: Part II, will be, he says, “a challenge, like everything else. I feel like it’s a really ambitious movie and I think if we do it all right — and obviously I’m so excited about Matt Reeves [directing] because he’s been one of my favorites for a long, long time — I really think it’s going to blow people away. It’s going to surprise a lot of people, I think, too.”’
I have a feeling (I could be way off) that Harvey Dent won’t become Two-Face in this movie, which may be a surprise in itself. However, we do know the Dent family will have a big role to play in the narrative of the film. There are some definite comic book inspirations we could look towards, an obvious one being The Long Halloween. However, who knows how much of those inspirations will make it into Matt Reeves movie?

Though The Batman and its sequel are not a part of the new DCU, this role does mean Stan will now have played in both Marvel and DC live-action universes/projects. Stan spoke about the enduring attraction of these superhero characters to the trade.
“Obviously there’s a reason why Batman’s been re-occurring for so many years, and why so many kids love Spider-Man,” he says. “When you’re thinking of, honestly, just anything positive for young men. If you’re a teenager and you’re growing up and you’re watching that, it’s about a kid being odd and figuring his way into things. And it works in very subtle ways.”
