Shazam Can’t Handle This Caped Crusader Stuff In New TV Spot

https://youtu.be/Y-5slD2mc3U

Check out the latest TV spot for Shazam starring Zachary Levi as the superhero who is really a 15-year-old kid. The latest TV spot shows us some other parts of scenes we have already glimpsed before and here we get to see Shazam purchasing some beer, because, you know, it’s fun when underage kids can buy beer for the first time, right?

We also get to see Shazam attempt o use some of his powers and saving a bus after it seems he caused it to crash in the first place. All throughout his foster brother is guiding him like Obi-Wan training Luke and it makes me think, why didn’t the wizard give the powers to the other lad?

Shazam also mentions that he’s “not cut out for all this caped crusader stuff” and that’s a clear nod to Batman. We already know this is set in the same universe that Batman and Superman exist, but whilst Shazam hits theaters, Superman is in limbo and Batman is being recast and redefined by Matt Reeves.

I don’t know about you readers, but for, I almost feel like I am too old for this, that the comedy and the high jinx of a kid being in a man’s body was something I enjoyed when I was a kid, but would that engage me now? The more I see of Shazam, the less I am interested in seeing it, I will definitely see it, but I cannot say it will be on opening weekend unless my Son has a desire to see it. Probably he’d love it to be honest as he’s 11 years old and the perfect demographic for this movie.

I feel like a movie like this has to have heart and growth of maturity develop in the character as it did with Tom Hanks in the classic Big. So far all we are seeing of this movie is the earlier scenes and as such, maybe I am just not getting a feel of where the movie is going to go. Saying that, a trailer or TV spot’s job is to sell me on the movie, so far, I’m not sold!

Shazam hits theaters on April 5th, are you going to be seeing it on opening weekend? Share your thoughts in the usual place below.
