Recently Warner Bros pushed back the release dates of several films. Unfortunately for DC Comics fans, Shazam! Fury of the Gods made the list. Other big DC films such as The Batman, Flash, and Black Adam also had their release dates pushed back.
Fans immediately started to worry about the age of the cast for Shazam! Fury of the Gods. They didn’t waste any time in expressing their concern over the possibility of the film’s younger cast members aging too quickly. However, director David F. Sandberg doesn’t seem worried about it. He took to his Twitter account to reassure fans, You can check it out below.
And ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ is now a summer 2023 film… WB was like “can’t you just use fake beards on the kids?” and I was like “If Tom Cruise is going to space for real then we can wait for the kids to grow real beards! It’s an important plot point.” https://t.co/c0krK07Ddk

Reassurance straight from the director should give fans a good deal of relief. If worst comes to worst, just sprinkle a little bit of that frighteningly awesome DeepFake technology. Sandberg also said that while the release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods is delayed, the shooting schedule will not change. The film will simply be finished well before it’s released. If the film remains on schedule, perhaps the studio will consider moving the release date up.
Seriously though, it doesn’t mean we have to change the shooting schedule so no need to freak out about the age of the kids. You can freak out about your own age though. I’ll be 42 in three years. How about that!

Sandberg and Zachary Levi showed fans a very different side of DC. As I’ve said it many times, Shazam! was simply a lot of fun. An easy comparison is that the film played out like a superhero version of the Tom Hanks film, Big. While I personally enjoy DC’s darker, and well adult-oriented content, the lighter side of DC that Shazam! gave us was a breath a fresh air
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now set for a release date of June 2, 2023.
