Helen Mirren is playing Hespera, the antagonist in Shazam: Fury of the Gods, and now we have our first photos of Mirren in costume courtesy of Just Jared below.

Mirren looks as though she is about to cop a feel of Zachary Levi’s man boobs. However, I am sure that is not the case. This appears to be a shot taken in between takes, given the crew in the background. Though, we do get our first look at how Mirren will look within the movie. To be honest, this is kinda what I expected from some ancient being that’s not too happy with Shazam. Interestingly director David F. Sandberg also officially revealed the full costumes for the Shazam family this time around. Sandberg reckoned they’d leak anyway, so might as well just release the image below.

I like the costume looks here in the sequel more than I did in Shazam. However, overall I just didn’t love Shazam the way most fans seem to have done. I think the kid focused tone was right for the character, but maybe not for this audience member. Maybe I’m just getting too old and grumpy now to think like a child again? But hey, that’s fine, not every movie is for every fan and Shazam seems to get plenty of love from the fanbase.

I’d say I’m curious about Fury of the Gods more than I am hyped for it. I’ll definitely watch it, but I’ll wait for streaming I think. The DC movies I will make a cinema trip for are The Suicide Squad, The Batman, and The Flash. Though, perhaps my mind will get changed before Shazam: Fury of the Gods hits theatres?

Shazam: Fury of the Gods is due for release on June 2nd, 2023. That seems like a long way off, and I am unsure how Marvel can shoot and release a movie within a year and it takes DC currently 2 years on average? Lets us know what you think of Helen Mirren in Fury of the Gods below as always.
