Based on all the reports that have been coming out from various folks since that initial report from THR this morning, it looks like news of Henry Cavill leaving the DCEU is something that lots of trades have been sitting on for a bit. In addition to the Cavill news, we’ve had that Michael B. Jordan report, and now, we have news regarding a now-defunct Shazam! cameo.

If you’ll recall, this morning, it was reported that talks for Henry Cavill to reprise his role as the Man of Steel fell through during negotiations for a cameo role in Shazam! Now, thanks to TheWrap‘s Umberto Gonzalez, we may have an idea of what that scene consisted of. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing. Here’s what Gonzalez reported via Twitter:

“Spoiler alert, for what it’s worth the Superman cameo in Shazam! was supposed to be Clark at the end of the movie meeting with Billy Batson, the kid who [becomes] Shazam, and telling him ‘Hey, we’re gonna keep an eye on you.’ That kind of thing.”

Okay, if we’re to believe that, it’s not the most original premise for a scene, but it’s very fitting with what the character is, and it would have been pretty rewarding to see everything play out at the end of the flick.

What this really tells me is that, despite Warner Bros. claiming that no decision has been made regarding Henry Cavill, that enough outlets have enough separate sources to at least indirectly confirm that the actor may, in fact, be headed of in his own direction.
