Shazam! Sequel Could Film As Early As Next Spring, Says Zachary Levi

Shazam: Fury Of The Gods Photos Show Helen Mirren In Costume

Earlier this year saw the release of the superhero film Shazam! Unlike plenty of other superhero movies, this one was squarely aimed at a family audience. And, it additionally featured a very unique family itself. Between the colorful cast of characters and the charm of leads Zachary Levi and Asher Angel, it managed to work its way into the hearts of moviegoers, even if it didn’t set the box office on fire.

Luckily for Shazam!, with its relatively meager $100 million budget, it didn’t need to set the box office on fire. It only needed to make back its money and help raise the prestige of the DC Extended Universe, and on that front, it accomplished its mission. This means we’re due for a sequel, right?

In an interview with AP, star Zachary Levi stated that the studios has already gotten to work on a screenplay for the inevitable film. If all goes well, they could start production in late spring of next year or early summer. That means that they could be on set this time next year.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed what Shazam! had to offer, I say keep them coming. Keep them coming quickly, because once Asher Angel grows up, he won’t really be able to transform into Zachary Levi anymore without raising some eyebrows.
