She-Hulk Rumors Hint At Comic Book-Accurate Origin — Who Should Play The Character?

She-Hulk Is A Mess Rumor Resurfaces From A New Source

You can’t say Marvel Studios isn’t ambitious. After setting the world on fire with their feature films and Marvel Cinematic Universe, they have set forth a new goal: bringing TV and film together. No, not in the way the Arrowverse has (but that has its merits), but in a way that truly merges and crisscrosses the stories. This year will see their first batch of TV shows hit Disney+, with two of them actually making their way onto the streaming service. One of the shows that’s set to begin production this year is She-Hulk.

As of this writing, production on the Disney+ shows seems to be malleable and hearsay, but Marvel Studios does have a lot to juggle. Most recent rumors came from Charles Murphy, who stated that Hawkeye is set to begin production this September, after Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. And regarding those shows, casting is already underway, meaning some details are starting to trickle out.

The Illuminerdi is reporting that Jennifer Walters’ (She-Hulk herself) will have a comic book-accurate origin. This means she will get her powers after receiving a life-saving blood transfusion from Bruce Banner, her cousin. They highlight the fact that Bruce Banner is specifically mentioned. That being said, it is not clear whether or not this would actually mean a Hulk cameo or appearance is actually a possibility.

But let’s talk about the leading lady for a second. The casting call, according to the outlet, calls for a 26 to 34-year-old actress with comedic chops. The race of the character has been left open, so there really are no restrictions as to who can be cast. Additionally, they seem to want an actress who would be able to hop between the small and big screen as necessary. In other words, she can be a great TV actor, but must also have a cinematic presence on-screen.

With this in mind, we had a brilliant idea here at LRM Online. To be more specific, our own Kyle Malone had a stroke of genius for an up-and-coming actress with leading experience: Naomi Scott.

In addition to her work on Aladdin, she also has experience on films like Power Rangers and Charlie’s Angels. Sure, neither of those movies actually did very well, but I don’t think you can point to her as anything remotely resembling a problem.

Scott is 26 years old, so she falls perfectly within the age range Marvel Studios is looking for, which is great. She also has leading experience on the big screen, as well a pre-existing relationship with the House of Mouse, so this isn’t exactly an out-of-left-field pick. Furthermore, she has the ability to portray someone who’s both tough and intelligent.

But, that’s just our choice. Who do you think should play Jennifer Walters? Let us know your thoughts down below!
