Shelob CONFIRMED In Rings Of Power Season 2 BTS Video Plus Three Episode Premiere

Shelob is CONFIRMED for Rings of Power Season 2 in an official BTS video, plus a three episode premiere has been announced.

Shelob is CONFIRMED for Rings of Power Season 2 in an official BTS video, plus a three episode premiere has been announced. Yesterday we shared the first teaser trailer and premiere date for The Rings of Power Season 2. There was no hint of this in the teaser trailer, but it has since been revealed that the first three episodes will drop on August 29, with one episode per week afterwards for a total of eight episodes.

Though, I’m guessing you’re here for the Shelob headline. Below you can check out the Season 2 BTS video which was released officially by Amazon. There are quite a few details and shots seen here that were not shown in the teaser. However, perhaps most revealing is the shots of Maxim Baldry (Isildur) heading into set. Baldry pulls the camera away before getting a clear look at the set. However we can actually see quote a bit, like the orcs stuck to walls in a web like substance. However, if that’s not enough, and you go really slowly, you can see what is on all the storyboards behind Baldry. Sure enough, though the name Shelob isn’t mentioned, this is a spider’s cave and the massive spider is shown in one of the storyboards.

Check it out below, time stamp 01:43.

If you follow rumors for this show, then you’ll know we’ve been hearing Shelob would show up in Season 2. Thank Eru, it’s an actual spider. I was really worried about some (now proved to be BS) rumors young Shelob would not be a spider. Given what we see in combination between the teaser and this BTS video, we can make some assumptions about Isildur’s story. Isildur was left for dead in the region we now call Mordor. In the footage we see him teamed up with Arondir the Elf.

It therefore seems like Isildur and Arondir are in Mordor, and trying to get out. One of the paths out of Mordor we know of is Shelob’s cave. There are no hints in the books that Shelob has lived in Mordor for this long. However, there’s nothing to contradict it either that I can recall. All we really know about Shelob is that she is a descendant of spiders who Beren had to face in the First Age. Those spiders themselves were said to have spawned initially from Ungoliant who’s power was huge. Beren is an ancestor of both Isildur, Elendil and of course Elrond. Which, proves to be some nice symmetry for Isildur I feel.

What do you think of the news Shelob is confirmed for Rings of Power Season 2 in an official BTS video, plus the three episode premiere? Thoughts below as usual.
