Siberia Trailer Has Willem Dafoe Descending Into Madness

Siberia - Willem Dafoe

Willem Dafoe is one of the best actors of his generation. He played numerous roles from a comic book lunatic Green Goblin in Spider-Man to the admired Vincent van Gogh in At Eternity’s Gate and to even a lighthouse keeper maintaining his sanity in The Lighthouse. Now, Dafoe gets into another mind-bending character of Clint in Siberia as a man trying hard not to descend into madness from dreams in Siberia.

Lionsgate released its first trailer for this anticipated psychological thriller Siberia that’ll leave you guessing on what’s exactly going on in the head of the character.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Clint tends a bar at a snowbound roadhouse whose patrons speak a language he doesn’t understand, and things may not be what they seem. Desperate for answers, he drives a sled team to a nearby cave but finds no peace. Are the spirits that confront him mere figments of his imagination—or will they slowly tear his body and soul to pieces?

This mind-blowing psychological thriller is directed by Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant) from the screenplay written by Ferrara with Christ Zois. Also, it stars Dounia Sichov, Simon McBurney, Cristina Chiriac, and Daniel Gimenez Cacho.

Willem Dafoe plays many crazy and absurd characters in his career and he plays them well. Siberia appears to be a beautifully shot film with many dreamlike sequences that may or may not drive a man towards madness. With Dafoe in the lead role, no doubt he’ll be the actor to pull this off in this type of movie.

Siberia is slated for release on Friday, June 18, and then followed up with the DVD release on Tuesday, June 22.
