Legendary actress Sigourney Weaver confirms her role in The Mandalorian and Grogu in a recent interview. Weaver also says she has met one of the co-stars of the film, the aforementioned Grogu. I mean, I’m sure she’s met the other actors on the film as well, but since Grogu isn’t real… you know.
We already knew from trade reports that Weaver was in talks to appear in this latest Star Wars movie. However, the actress has now confirmed only our second piece of casting news for this movie yet. The only other one we know of outside the title characters is Rebels character Zeb (voice role), who we saw in the D23 footage of the film.
When you think about it, and I just have, things have been very quiet around The Mandalorian and Grogu. I means we have heard almost no casting news or any kind of leaks around story yet, that’s…odd, but welcome actually. Weaver herself was giving nothing away when she spoke to Deadline recently.

“I’m playing a role in The Mandalorian & Grogu [which will be directed by Jon Favreau]. I got to meet Grogu for the first time the other day. I’m filming that before I go to London for The Tempest at the end of the year.”
As said above, I kinda like the fact we haven’t got any leaks from this movie yet. Those may start to come eventually, but usually leaks begin as soon as production does. It’s a change of pace from Lucasfilm on that front, so far. We have no idea if any characters from The Mandalorian will return for the movie? Bo Katan, Mayfield, the Armorer… we’ve heard nothing. The only two characters we can rule out are Boba Fett and Greef Karga. The latter for sadly obvious reasons and the former as Morrison said he’s not been asked.
What do you think of this news as Sigourney Weaver confirms she’s in The Mandalorian and Grogu? Do you think Weaver will be a good guy or a villain? Thoughts below as usual.
