Skylin3s Trailer Shows The Completion of The Alien Invasion Trilogy

Ten years ago, no one would’ve predicted Skyline would’ve become a cult hit franchise.

With clever marketing at that year’s San Diego Comic-Con International, people were curious to know why bodies were levitating into the sky. It turns out an alien race was harvesting humans in their spaceships. The first Skyline film was all about survival that starred Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, and Scottie Thompson.

Then director/writer Liam O’Donnell took the reins from the Strause brothers in 2013 to create Beyond Skyline. That sequel had Earth fighting back against the invading forces. It became more of a straight-up action film with more fighting with stars Frank Grillo, Bojana Novakovic, Jonny Weston, and Iko Uwais.

Now with Skylin3s, it is the exciting conclusion of the alien-invasion trilogy. From the trailer, it appears that there is peace between the worlds. However, as humans, we have the tendency to be suspicious and plan for a final assault against our invaders.

In this film, it stars Lindsey Morgan, Jonathan Howard, Rhona Mitra, James Cosmo, Alexander Siddig, Daniel Bernhardt, and Cha-Lee Yoon. Liam O’Donnell returns to write and helm the final installment.

Here’s the brief synopsis of Skylin3s:

When a virus threatens to turn earth-dwelling alien hybrids against humans, Captain Rose Corley (Morgan) must lead a team of elite soldiers on a mission to the alien’s world in order to save what’s left of humanity.

I’ve seen Skyline and its sequel Beyond Skyline. My appreciation towards the latter, because it was more of an addictive action flick rather than a novel concept when it first started in 2010. O’Donnell knows how to pull off a proper action sci-fi movie, so I’m guessing Skylin3s is the same as its predecessor. It’s too bad none of the films could keep the consistency of the cast together.

Skylin3s is in select theaters and On Demand on December 18.
