RPG video game Smilegate’s Chaos Zero Nightmare revamped its main story from chapters one through five of Act 1 since the game’s official launch.

The storyline enhanced the world-building and character narratives with a more immersive experience. The story has been fully re-recorded with voice acting to convey the updated details and the emotional depth of each character.

Smilegate also announced the addition of a new combatant to the video, who was popular in the Chinese version of the game. The new combatant is Fei and her partner, Ruixiang. She is a Void-attribute Ranger, specializing in accumulating “Descent” stacks whenever an ally draws a card, enabling her to unleash the powerful attack card “Heavensfall.” She has an ability to chain extra attacks called “Flame Arts.” In addition, there will be Fei’s Trauma Code story to uncover her hidden story of her past in this video game debut.

The new update also expands “Sortie,” the game’s original roguelike mode, with several new gameplay systems. A new Hardcore Mode Ranking has been added and allows players to look up the Top 100 players in this mode.

“Engagement Data” system allows players to complete Combatant-specific missions to earn exclusive titles. Also, “Decisive Battle: Chaos Core” was added to the “Depths” of Sortie, of which only players who meet certain conditions during battles in the Depths can enter the encounter and earn rewards upon victory.

Two new “Core” items have been added, allowing players to modify their acquired Save Date. One of them, the “Core of Mutation,” enables the “Mutation” feature, which adds a variety of additional effects to Save Date, such as increased damage.

“We’ve put a great deal of time and care into revamping the early main story to deliver a more polished experienced, and we hope players enjoy it,” stated Kim Joo Hyung, head of business at Smilegate, in a statement. “We also have a variety of new content planned so players can continue enjoying the game as Season 3 comes to a close.”

In celebration of this new update, Smilegate hosts a variety of in-game events, including a “Monsters Arena” event with players using Monster Cards to earn rewards. There will also be a special check-in event offering more rewards.

The new season will be announced soon through its content series, Galactic News Network, and an upcoming preview.
