Solo: A Star Wars Story – Did You Spot These Easter Eggs?

While Solo: A Star Wars Story isn’t having the best time at the box office, the film does have its surprises. A couple of easter eggs from the Indiana Jones franchise have been spotted in the film. Dryden Vos, played by actor Paul Bettany, has a couple of very sought after items sitting in his office.

The idol from the opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark is on display, as well as the magic rocks from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. And while it is probably the most difficult to spot, the Holy Grail from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is also in Vos’ collection. Director Ron Howard recently spoke with RadioTimes and explained the Indy Easter Eggs were not his idea, and even though Lawrence Kasdan wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark, it wasn’t his doing either, but that of his son and co-writer, Jon Kasdan.

“And while this wasn’t his idea – OK I’ll just go ahead and say it. It was his son [and Solo co-writer] Jon.”

Howard continued saying while it wasn’t his idea, he was in support of it.

“…This was not my idea but I completely supported the idea of planting this little Easter Egg.”

I didn’t spot these items, but I will be looking for them upon second viewing. This calls back to the awesome Easter Egg from Raiders of the Lost Ark where hieroglyphs of R2-D2 and C-3pO can be seen when Indy is in the Well of Souls.

Solo: A Star Wars Story isn’t a bad film, I actually thought it was a lot of fun, not perfect, but I was entertained. While many factors are at play, in my opinion, the low box-office numbers have more to do with The Last Jedi than with Solo itself.
