Solo: A Star Wars Story – Donald Glover Wanted The Role Of Lando More Than Anything

Multitalented performer, Donald Glover, who has already show his skills in acting, writing and directing will soon appear on the big screen as one of the Star Wars franchise’s most beloved characters, Lando Calrissian. The role was made famous by actor Billie Dee Williams in the original trilogy, however, for the film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, a younger actor would be needed to portray the dashing rogue. While promoting the upcoming film at a press conference, Glover revealed he wanted the role of Lando, more than any other role.

“When I heard they were making these, I told my agent ‘if they’re making anything with Lando in it, I have to be Lando. And he was like, ‘I hear you; I don’t like your odds.’ And that was exactly what I needed to hear. I really did audition like it was the only role I wanted in the world, because it really was. I’m just really happy to be a part of this. My dad imprinted me with this kind of Star Wars longing, because it does feel like the Bible to me in a lot of ways.”

In my opinion, there is really no one better than Donald Glover to play young Lando Calrissian. He has the chops, the charm, and is himself a Star Wars fan. Early reactions to the film tend to agree with the casting, as many who were lucky enough to watch the film, say that Glover steals the show. Truly a dream come true for Glover, being able to portray one of your childhood heroes in a franchise as big as Star Wars.
