New plot details for Disney’s second Anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story have emerged from Empire. Insider information obtained by the magazine has shed light on where the film may be heading, as far as the mythology surrounding the character including how he met Chewbacca.

Here’s what Empire had to say (via ComicBook.com):

“It’s part of Solo lore that, as a young gifted pilot, he studied at the Imperial Academy. Solo is kicked out of the Academy for rescuing Chewbacca from an Imperial Officer, and thus one of cinema’s great friendships was formed. Some variation on this is likely in Solo.”

It is well known throughout the Star Wars fandom that Chewbacca owed a life debt to Han Solo, and it would be wise for Disney to include this in some shape or form, and from what we learned today, it sounds as if they are making the right move here.

That’s not all. We also received a brand-new (leaked) piece of artwork for the film (via Reddit). Check it out below:

In my opinion, the first anthology film, Rogue One, is the best Star Wars film that Disney has produced, and even with the massive reshoots and production problems, I have high hopes for backstory of everyone’s favorite smuggler.

Hopefully we will get a teaser trailer very soon!

All that is legends now. Disney will re-write his entire past.
He actually wins the Falcon from Lando after losing to him on a 3-d shooter which will be coming to a theme park near you.
Life debt? Disney will shy away from slavery and have it be that Han rescued him when his speeder’s brakes went out.
Imperial Academy? Finn took his arc, so we will just have Han be the son of a deadbeat gambler who never even knew Han. So Han decided he was going to be successful, not like his old man. But in the end they will reconcile because the power of Disney.
Also there will be a scene where he visits Lando in jail and he tells him “theres always money in the Millenium Falcon.”

It’s all Legends now, but Disney has picked and chose certain aspects of Legends to bring into this one, so that still makes it likely.

Okay, okay, okay, just wait for it: Darth Diznee will kill off HAN SOLO, CHEWBACCA, AND LANDO in this movie and will declare the whole current movie universe the “legends” universe. Reboot coming up with 4 movies per year based on totally generic screenplays (written by some AI for coherence and suppression of originality). Fans, rejoice! Luke is not only no longer dead – he never even existed in this new official Disney Star Wars canon! WOW!
Disney – I am waiting by my phone. Call me! $$$$$$!

So, it looks like Han lost the middle front part of the Falcon at some point. Or the artist was very confused.

    • Kratos

maybe the entire missing center front section are just part of the “i’ve made a lot of special modifications myself” he was referring to in Ep IV.

      • Vector

Very likely. Or it get’s blown off or something.

this movie is going to be shit and everybody knows it. if the mouse thought for second that this flick has “buzz” and that the fanbase wanted it…they would have had a trailer attached to TLJ

Did I miss something, or were no “plot details” revealed in this article, or the quoted Empire bit? All the Empire magazine quote is pure speculation; the kind any Star Wars fan could ramble off.

  • Ghost2020

This was already ruled out as not official art.

    • Harold and Maude’Dib

      I would hope so.

Can someone explain to me how the “life debt” thing isn’t an awful idea?

Like, how about they just be friends? Chewie sticking around because he owes Han massively cheapens their relationship.
