Nobody really knows what to expect from Lucasfilm’s upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story. The ongoing turmoil plaguing this project has been well-reported, including a change in directors and massive reshoots. For a lot of movie projects, this would almost certainly spell disaster, but Star Wars is an altogether different beast.

Solo might still turn out a trainwreck, but it won’t be for lack for lack of effort by Lucasfilm.

Anyone who’s ever worked there will tell you that Lucasfilm is serious about canon. They have an entire team dedicated to canon (see: Holocron database). Every Star Wars character, creature, location, and narrative decision is discussed, weighed, and heavily vetted before implementation. In other words, if Lucasfilm felt it was necessary to swap creatives mid-stream, they had a major reason for doing so.

That’s all well and good, but when’s the Solo trailer coming out? Fine. If that’s all you want to talk about… The Star Wars team at Lucasfilm took to Twitter earlier today and posted this info:

So there you have it. The Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer will debut on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 6:45am EST, during the taping of ABC’s Good Morning America (Disney owns both ABC and Lucasfilm, which you probably knew already, but we assume nothing here at LRM).

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25, 2018.
