Solo: Emilia Clarke Discusses Her Femme Fatale Character

If the trailers didn’t make it clear enough, Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to be a real western set in space — a nice nod to the franchise’s origins with Star Wars: A New Hope. But don’t expect it to wholly just be that, as it looks like it will also be pulling in some film noir tropes as well.

Case in point: Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra, who, based on the trailer, Han is both infatuated with and terrified by.

Speaking with EW, Clarke gave a few details about the character:

“She has a couple of guises, but essentially she is just fighting to stay alive. If you’ve got a really glamorous lady in a really sordid environment, you kind of know the glamor is hiding a few rough roads.”

We can’t help but wonder what “rough roads” she’s hiding behind that facade. However, based on the huge gulp that Han gives after asking “What’s that?” in the second teaser, it seems very likely that he will be seeing a less glamorous side the character at some point in the film.

What do you hope to see from Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story? Do you think she’ll end up turning on Han by the end of the film? Let us know your thoughts down below!
