It feels like it was oh so long ago that we first got a look at the live adaptation version of Sonic the Hedgehog and collectively gasped in horror. Lucky for everyone, the studio listened and made some fan-friendly adjustments to the classic Sega character. The release of the film came almost one year ago when it dropped on February 14th, 2020. The film was well received, which is rare for a video game adaptation feature film. Sonic the Hedgehog went on to set the record for the biggest opening weekend for a video game film in the US and Canada. As well as the sixth highest-grossing film of 2020 (yes we understand it didn’t have fair competition but it is what it is).

So what’s next? A sequel of course! You try and take that success and make another film! Which is why today Paramount Pictures has made a “groundbreaking, thought-provoking, extremely obvious announcement”. This was presented in the form of a quick video that showcased the creative name for the film, as well as the release date. You can check it out below!

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO

As you can see, we have a new logo that not only incorporates Sonic but his long-time sidekick, Tails! Which gives us the title of the film, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (mind-blowing). It also confirms the released date of April 8th, 2022. One exciting element of the clip is the Emerald Hill Zone-like music that accompanies the formation of the title of the film.

Now some big questions come up with the announcement of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Like who will be back? What new stars are likely to be added. Will other classic Sonic characters be added. What about Knuckles? Or is that for the third film? Whatever the case, we know that at least Sonic will once again be visually pleasing.
