Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Trailer Reveals Tails and Knuckles

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

One of last year’s surprising films came with Sonic the Hedgehog film that delighted the video game fans with the lovable character onscreen and the return to hilarity with Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik.

Due to its success, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sped its way into production and brought back the live-action cast of Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter, along with Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic. For the sequel, Idris Elba voices Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey voices Tails. Jeff Fowler returns to helm the film from the screenplay written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington.

Here is the synopsis circulating around for Sonic the Hedgehog 2:

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

In the video game film genre, Sonic the Hedgehog was a surprising success in a very disappointing field of video game adaptations to film. The better question is if lightning can strike twice with the Sonic franchise. All bets that it looks good with the sequel by introducing both Tails and Knuckles immediately since they’re recognizable and lovable characters from the video game franchise. So far, this trailer looks good.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be in theaters on April 8, 2022.
