Look out DCEU and MCU there is another comic book publisher who will soon be making their theatrical debut, Valiant Entertainment. Since their relaunch in 2012 they have been bringing us high quality stories that include Bloodshot, Toyo Harada, Shadowman, Archer and Armstrong and so many others.

Back in 2015 Sony signed a 5 picture deal with Neil Moritz’s Original Film studio to bring some of these Valiant characters to theaters. Their first offering is going to be Bloodshot, which will be released on February 21st, 2020. The film stars Vin Diesel and it’s directed by Dave Wilson and as we know is well into production. With that said the studio is ready to get started on their second film, Harbinger.

According to ThatHashtagShow the studio has hired director Justin Tipping to helm the film. Like Bloodshot’s director Wilson, this will be Tipping’s first major motion picture. He has only directed some short films and television series. Like the comic book the film will be focused on teenager Pete Stancheck, who has been born with amazing paranormal abilities.

Joining him on this film will also be Joe Irons, Kris Hathaway, Faith Hebert and Charlene Dupre. They will take on one of my favorite characters in the Valiant Universe Toyo Harada. Harbinger will establish the shared universe that will include Bloodshot and lead into a third film, Harbinger Wars that will include all the characters.

Harbinger was originally created by Jim Shooter and David Lapham in 1992. The original series ran for 41 issues over 12 years. Then in 2012 Valiant Entertainment relaunched and Harbinger was in the hands of one of my favorite writers Joshua Dysart, with artwork by Khari Evans. Back in September Valiant just wrapped up their fall event Harbinger Wars II written by Matt Kindt.
