I can feel it coming in the air tonight. Hold on. We’re how many weeks away now from when Sony sends Venom swinging into theaters? Three. Boy am I holding my breath for this one. Why? There are two very distinct things competing in my head when I think about Sony’s Venom. Does my love for Tom Hardy as an actor outweigh my disdain for what Sony has done to Spider-Man 3 and then did to Andrew Garfield after two movies starring as everyone’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man?
Now just the other day I was doing some Netflix and Chilling when I saw Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 was available to stream. What’d I do? Hit play and scrubbed forward until I saw Peter Parker dancing to Jazz. Because in case you folks were wondering, yes symbiotes love to get funky to some Miles Davis. I also saw Topher Grace looking possessed by the soul music-loving Venom. He was very upset, shrieking at Spider-Man.
I swear this Venom better not be that Venom. Because if it is, someone is going to owe me ten bucks. So, here’s hoping it isn’t. Besides Tom Hardy has delivered a sterling streak of good performances, and I hope this isn’t that stinker he’s been holding back before dumping all over us fans. Are you amped up or apprehensive about Venom? Well, there’s a new poster and hopefully, it brightens or dims your day.
Venom stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Sope Aluko, and Scott Haze. The movie opens October 5, 2018.
