Sophie Turner Says Jean Grey Is At War With Herself

As most of you may know, Sophie Turner is set to take her portrayal of Jean Grey to the next level in, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Having played the character in 2016’s X-men: Apocalypse, this time around the character will have a much more powerful and darker turn to deal with, as she will start to become one of the more powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, Dark Phoenix.

Sophie Turner recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly and explained how Jean Grey is in a battle against herself.

“So many scenes I have to go from broken-down Jean — that’s when she’s most susceptible to Phoenix infiltrating her — to this confident, arrogant, judgmental character within milliseconds.”

This is the comic version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide, except Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix can do far, far more damage. When Grey switches over to Dark Phoenix her abilities are become cosmic, giving her the power over space and time, the ability to warp reality and control over temporal existence.

The film will be written and directed by Simon Kinberg, making this his directorial debut (though he has been writer and producer on several X-Men films). Most of the X-Men family are set to appear alongside Turner including, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier.
