It looks like Hawkeye will be dealing with an auditory issue in the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series if a new rumor report ends up being true. According to a new rumor by Joseph Aberl at Murphy’s Multiverse according to a new casting sheet possibly tied to the series there is a need for a middle-aged Chinese audiologist, who works in a rundown building and is off-the-books.  The other casting calls match up with other characters that are rumored to appear in the series. It would appear that Clint will lose his hearing and need the help of this audiologist.  Another tidbit that sounds interesting is they audiologist is working off-the books. This could mean that Clint is on the run from the government or framed for a crime. There have been plenty of comic book storylines seeing the famed arched framed for a crime and put behind bars.

Clint Barton’s hearing was never addressed in the MCU films so we can only assume that this handicap would be something new.  Fans of the Hawkeye comic books know that Clint is actually deaf and uses hearing aids since 1983.  He became deaf in the after using a sonic arrow to destroy a machine which damaging his eardrums. There was a short run in the comics that Clint got his hearing back but then during the Matt Fraction run his eardrums were again damaged causing him to use hearing aids created by Tony Stark.

Although he hasn’t appeared yet in the Marvel’s Avengers video game all the promos show Clint having hearing aids on. This could be a push from Marvel being more inclusive and diverse.  If the rumors do up ending to be true this would be a good storyline for Hawkeye to follow after ending his run with the MCU.
