Speak No Evil Trailer Reveals The Twisted Thriller Remake With James McAvoy | CinemcaCon 2024

There is a debate about remaking films within a couple of years of the original, especially if the original film is deemed very worthy. However, the re-imagined Speak No Evil trailer revealed at CinemaCon 2024 proved to be as worthy or even perhaps freakier than the original.

The original Speak No Evil film had a successful run on the film festival circuit before being picked up for streaming by Shudder. This Dutch film garnered significant acclaim for director-writer Christian Tafdrup’s slow-burn thriller, which captivated audiences with its performances and unexpected turns.

James Watkins (Eden Lake) wrote the English adaptation screenplay and directed the project.

Here is the official synopsis:

Speak No Evil stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Halt and Catch Fire) and SAG-award winner Scoot McNairy (Argo, A Quiet Place Part II) as an American couple Louise and Ben Dalton, who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler of The Good Nurse and Riverdale), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (James McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Aisling Franciosi of Game of Thrones and The Fall), and their furtive son Ant (newcomer Dan Hough).

Despite the twists and turns of the original, this English adaptation seems to maintain the film’s basic premises and mystery. It will be interesting if there are any changes and the addition of Blumhouse horror into this film that horror aficionados already adored.

Speak No Evil is out in theaters on September 13.
