The latest Spidey Barside Buzz says that Spider-Man 4 will film this Fall and Justin Lin is now one of the contenders to direct the movie. It’s no big secret that 2024 should see the beginning of production on the fourth MCU Spider-Man film. However when this year it films, and who will direct have yet to be determined.
Well according to Jeff Sneider in The Insneider, he says he’s heard the movie is currently scheduled to shoot this Fall. He’s also heard a new name (one of many) for director, that of Justin Lin. I’m not a fan of Lin, so I hope this one does not go anywhere. Previous rumored names have included Drew Goddard as being a serious contender, but who knows. Here’s what Sneider had to say.
“That would be Spider-Man 4, which I’m told is supposed to begin shooting in either September or October. The problem with Spider-Man is that Sony still doesn’t have a director yet. I’ve heard Justin Lin was in contention at one point — and may still be — but he’s just one of the names I’ve heard and others are said to remain in the mix.”
“I’m told that HBO really didn’t want to wait until next year to shoot Euphoria but with Zendaya locked into another Spider-Man movie this fall, the network didn’t have much of a choice, as they can’t shoot the show with its star, and Spidey is a long shoot.”
“I’m also told that Levinson was aware of Zendaya’s commitment to shoot Spider-Man this fall and that the two of them were always on the same page schedule-wise, so there’s no frustration there.”

By now I’m sure you’re aware of the rumored friction between Marvel and Sony on this movie. With Sony rumored to want Jon Watts back for a Multiversal tentpole. Whereas, Feige and Marvel wants a new director and a street level story. We have rumors of characters that will show up and even potential villains. However, we also must realise that far as we know there is no current completed script for Spider-Man 4. Therefore, things could change, or have changed from earlier rumors.
If Fall truly is the start date for Spider-Man 4, and that makes a lot of sense to me, then I guess we may find out more soon. Sneider did go on to say he thinks Sony will do some big announcement this Summer. I assume the name of the movie and the director. However, he is only just guessing with that.
