Spider-Man: Far From Home Writers Also Name Drop Kraven As Possible Villain For Sequel

Earlier this week we shared some comments from Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts on who he’d possibly like to see as Spider-Man’s next antagonist. Whilst that article had quite a few spoilers for Far From Home, this particular article does not, so feel safe.

However, we are also talking about Kraven the Hunter here, because in an interview with ComicBook.com, Far From Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers also revealed that Kraven would be high on their list if they were ever asked to write a third Spider-Man movie for Marvel Studios. Check it out.

“That’s a tough one,” McKenna said “It’s also so tough because we’re dealing with MCU and Sony with it all, and some office would be like, ‘Well, you can’t use that one.’ Or what about this villain? ‘Oh, well, Fox owns that villain.’ But now that things have changed with Disney with Fox… I’ve always had a soft spot for Kraven the Hunter.”

McKenna, meanwhile, had another villain come to mind.

“We read a lot of [Spider-Man’s] comics that were fun,” McKenna said. “There were some really great storylines with him. Spot seems like a really cool villain.”

Now, I could say a lot more about why Kraven would be the perfect villain for Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, (we have to title it as something?) but that would be getting into Far From Home spoilers which I said at the top I wouldn’t do. Suffice to say that Kraven makes far more sense than Spot, and I certainly hope we don’t see him as the main villain of the next Spider-Man movie.

Either way, it’s worth noting that as far as we know a third Spider-Man film has yet to be green lit by Sony and if you believe the rumors we shared yesterday (related section below), then Far From Home needs to break $1 Billion in order for Sony to approve more movies in the MCU. So, neither director Watts nor writers McKenna and Sommers have been hired to develop a third movie, but if they ever are, then all parties seem very keen on Kraven the Hunter, and I agree, he’d be perfect for the next movie.

Is Kraven the Hunter now the firm favourite with the bookies for the next Spider-Man Villain? Well, you’ve got to give it good odds don’t you?
