Remakes are always a crapshoot. More often than not, they feel a lot like cash grabs, but sometimes the talent involved in said remake is enough to make one feel at least the slightest bit interested. This is the case with West Side Story, which has filmmaking legend Steven Spielberg at the helm.
I’m not like most film and musical fans. I never really cared for West Side Story, so when this remake was first announced, I didn’t feel much of anything one way or another. No anger, no excitement…but Spielberg’s involvement had me…curious. Now, with production wrapped on the film, I find myself getting just a bit more curious than before.

We still have well over a year until the film is released, so there is plenty of time for them to continue pushing this thing, and I’m especially looking forward to the eventual trailer. As I mentioned, I’m not a huge fan of the original, but I do enjoy a good musical. So show me a good trailer and I may just be swayed.
