Square Enix Reportedly Working On Games For PlayStation 5

I know, I know. Why can’t we just enjoy things in the current era of consoles? Well, what would the fun in that be? Given the way technology works, it’s almost impossible NOT to have your head constantly pointed to the future in search of the next big shiny object. How else can the medium of video gaming continue to evolve and grow if we don’t continually look forward?

And let’s be real, we’ve been in the current generation of consoles for quite some time now. The PlayStation 4 launched almost exactly five years ago, which is already a good length of time for any standard console generation, and we still don’t have a successor in sight just yet. But it looks like that may change real soon.

One Resetera user named nolifebr spotted via Linkedin profile for 3D character model lead artist Tomohiro Tokoro (in a profile that’s since been deleted), and in his list of works is a “New AAA Title for PS5.” Tokoro currently works fro Luminous Productions, which is a relatively new studio over at Square Enix set up to develop AAA titles, so this all checks out.

Obviously, game development is a long and arduous process, so even if they’re working on games, we could still be waiting several more years until they come to fruition, so this isn’t exactly proof that a PS5 announcement is right around the corner, but it’s still worth mentioning.
