Both a Star Trek: Section 31 movie staring Michelle Yeoh and a Galaxy Quest series were revealed yesterday and coming to Paramount +. Here are the details as per StarTrek.com of the Section 31 movie, which was officially announced by Paramount.
Paramount+ today announced it has officially greenlit Star Trek: Section 31 starring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh. In this special original movie event for the service, Yeoh will return to her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character she first played in Star Trek: Discovery’s first season.
In Star Trek: Section 31, Emperor Philippa Georgiou joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and faces the sins of her past. Produced by CBS Studios, production will begin later this year.

We also share some comments from star Michelle Yeoh. Oscar winning Yeoh reprises her role as Philippa Georgiou, or at least an alt version of her.
“I’m beyond thrilled to return to my Star Trek family and to the role I’ve loved for so long,” said Michelle Yeoh. “Section 31 has been near and dear to my heart since I began the journey of playing Philippa all the way back when this new golden age of Star Trek launched. To see her finally get her moment is a dream come true in a year that’s shown me the incredible power of never giving up on your dreams. We can’t wait to share what’s in store for you, and until then: live long and prosper (unless Emperor Georgiou decrees otherwise)!”
Cool, but I was never a massive Georgiou fan, so we shall see? I’m also not a huge fan of Section 31, or early Discovery Seasons, so not getting too hyped about this one yet.
Galaxy Quest…..The TV Series
From TV to movie and now from movie to TV. It has been reported by trades that a Galaxy Quest TV series is in development. As per THR:
Paramount+ is teaming with its studio counterpart, Paramount Television Studios, for a live-action adaptation of the 1999 cult favorite sci-fi spoof. Sources say the project is in the early development stages and a search is underway for a writer to pair with Mark Johnson, the Breaking Bad alum who exec produced the film and is returning for the scripted update. Johnson and his Gran Via Productions banner are the only execs currently attached to the project.
I enjoyed Galaxy Quest. It was a fun spoof of Star Trek that reversed a lot of expectations. However, whether I’d be interested in an ongoing TV series, given the comedy underpinnings, I’m not so sure? Though, perhaps that’s simply my own taste speaking here? The trade goes into more detail around previous failed attempts to reboot Galaxy Quest as a TV series. As said, I’m just not sure about this one. Is Galaxy Quest a big enough name to get fans attention by the title alone? If not, why not just do something new?
I guess we will find out when it hits screens.
What do you think as Paramount + announces Star Trek: Section 31 and we also got the news that a Galaxy Quest TV series is in development? Thoughts below as always.
