Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | Melissa Navia Interview [Exclusive]

Melissa Navia in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds:

Before the uttered words of Captain James T. Kirk’s “To boldly go where no man has gone before,” Captain Christopher Pike led the crew of the starship USS Enterprise across the galaxy a decade before in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The series is set before the Star Trek: The Original Series and the current Star Trek: Discovery by bringing back its unique individual episodes of discovering new planets and interacting with the lifeforms.

The cast included Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, Bruce Horak, and Rebecca Romijn. Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso served as showrunners.

The inaugural season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiered on Paramount+ last month and currently streaming with its 10-episode season through July 7.

The show returns to episodic storytelling similar to Star Trek: The Original Series rather than the serialized storytelling of the most recent Star Trek series as of late.

In 2013, Navia won the best actress award at the Wild Rose Independent Film Festival as Dawn in the sci-fi movie Paragon Cortex. She had a recurring role in the television series Common Charges in 2015. In 2017, she played the guest role of astronaut Elena Gabriel in Showtime’s series Billions. A year later, she had a recurring role as Moana in AMC’s series Dietland.

Watch the exclusive interview with Melissa Navia as she took a brief time off in the middle of taping season two of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. She graciously spoke about her experiences on the show, behind the scenes, her character, and Star Trek. Sorry, no spoilers for season two of the series.
