It seems the cat is out of the bag of when the second season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch will be debuting on Disney+.  In the most recent issue of Star Wars Insider, there is a small promo for upcoming projects.  At the very bottom of the article is a coming soon promotion for the second season of The Bad Batch which gives a release time of Spring 2022.  You can check out the promo image below from the Reddit user alcibiad.

While the announcement is very vague and doesn’t give an actual release date, there are some clues that allow us to make a better guess of the actual date.  The first season of The Bad Batch premiered last year on May 4th, 2021, the official holiday date for Star Wars fans, with an hour-long special.  It would make perfect sense to premiere the second season on this date, exactly one year from the show’s premiere. Since Disney bought the rights to Star Wars they have incorporated May The 4th holiday into all aspects of the Disney brand.  With exclusive merchandise, park events, and specials on Disney+ having season two of the Bad Batch premiere that day makes sense marketing-wise.

What about the upcoming Kenobi limited series? So many speculators have been predicting that this series would be premiering on May 4th to celebrate the big holiday.  Something I have heard for a long time is that some Disney and Lucasfilm execs have pushed for the premiere of Kenobi to be at Star War Celebration, the largest Star Wars convention, in Anaheim during May 26th-29th.  The original announcement for this series was supposed to take place back in 2019 at Celebration which never happened to the pandemic.  Instead, the series was announced online at Disney Investor Day. With Celebration gearing up it wouldn’t surprise me to see the premiere take place with a big audience.
