Star Wars Celebration: Rogue One Panel

With Star Wars Celebration kicking off today the first panel to kick off the event with the much anticipation was the cast and crew of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  After watching this panel I can easily say that if you’re not excited about this movie then you aren’t an Old School Star Wars Fan!  Everything that came from this panel made the fans assured that this movie will not disappoint.

The panel opened up with the scrolling introduction that we have been accustomed to in Star Wars film with background noises and vocals from the movie.  Key points from this panel wanted the audience to realize that this is a movie with very little hope.  What Star Wars fans can be assured by is that Gareth Edwards did his homework for this film.  He got to speak to George Lucas, watched all the films, watched the animated series “The Clone Wars”, along with some other Star Wars pieces.

With a brief introduction of the producers and directors the lead into the cast was Gareth Edwards unveiling the new poster for Rogue One.  Everyone in attendance received a free poster at the end.

At the end of the special behind the scenes video the entire cast was introduced and gave a little commentary behind the stories of each character.  The main focus the cast was trying to convey was that this movie will be different than the other Star Wars movies in that the characters already know about their past.  This will be a movie about the future of the Rebel Alliance forming together as a whole.

The man who stole the show was Ben Mendelsohn aka Director Krennic with his entrance in costume flanked by two massive black commando Storm Troopers.  Ben intro a small teaser clip that was only available to the people in attendance.

The final piece of news from the panel was the confirmation of Darth Vader will be in Rogue One in some sort of fashion.

After watching this panel and the previews I can safely say that Rogue One will not dissapoint any Star Wars fan.  This movie might now be for the casual audience but it will definitely be better than the prequels, but almost anything is better than the prequels.
