Star Wars: Episode IX Rumor – Potential Plot Leak Points To A Traitor In [SPOILER]

As Star Wars: Episode 9 commences with production, plot details are understandably thin on the ground. Each of the previous entries in this Star Wars sequel trilogy has been able to keep plot details away from prying eyes and that is expected to continue for this final installment also.

However, yesterday a UK based tabloid newspaper ran a story giving some details of one aspect of the plot of the as yet untitled Episode 9. It goes without saying that this should be treated with no more respect than any other plot leak because we have no idea where this newspaper is getting their information from. The following details certainly sound plausible enough to fit within the story built up by The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, but then any half decent fake theory would also be designed to be plausible and believable.

With all that said, it is worth being aware that the following rumor could potential contain MAJOR SPOILERS for Star Wars: Episode 9. However, it could equally be nothing more than a made up report, so decide for yourself before proceeding.

The report from The Sunday Express states that a source has revealed to them plot details for the upcoming JJ Abrams-directed finale to the Star Wars sequel trilogy. The report details that one of the themes running through the movie is the realization by Kylo Ren that someone in the First Order is leaking information to the Resistance/Rebellion. The newspaper goes further by revealing that this inside mole is none other than second in command of the First Order General Hux played by Domhnall Gleeson. Apparently, Hux who is concerned that Kylo Ren is not fit to be the Supreme Leader of the First Order is leaking information to attempt to displace Kylo Ren at the top and position himself into a position to take over.

Now, this would make sense thematically, given that Hux was raising his blaster to exterminate an unconscious Kylo Ren after his Force struggle with Rey in Snoke’s throne room in The Last Jedi. It would not be that hard to imagine Hux working behind the scenes to undermine Kylo Ren from the inside. But I guess that’s also the reason why it could feel like an unfounded fake report.

I have seen and read so many crazy fanfiction plot reveals sold as leaked information over the years when it comes to Star Wars, very occasionally these reports turn out to be the real deal. The trick is, that until the movie is released and we can grade all the supposed leaks, there is simply no way to differentiate the real leaks from the made up BS that makes up the majority of these reports.

For this particular potential leak I have no confidence in the source, yet other than that, I have no way to logically differentiate it from the garbage that’s been appearing online from even before the script was finished. I am neutral here because logically there is nothing to allow me to immediately dismiss it or confirm it. The truth is that until we sit down in theaters next year to watch the movie, we simply won’t know if this report was genuine or not. But that’s the speculation game folks, in all its glory.

As always we want to hear what you think of the potential leak, do you buy it, or do you reject it? Shout off about this leak and anything else related to Star Wars: Episode 9 in the usual place below.
