With most of the stars of Star Wars movies The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi expected to return for the finale of this Sequel Trilogy, we must remember that there are often brand new characters to cast in each installment.

With Star Wars: Episode IX due to begin filming very shortly, Lucasfilm is casting for a new female lead. Recently That Hashtag Show found out that casting director Nina Gold was on the lookout for an ethnic female, with a strong preference for an African-American, 18-26 years old, to portray a character by the name of ‘Caro’.
Caro is described as follows:
“Captivating naturalness and ease to her manner. Caro is a leader and problem solver, smart with a great sense of humor and a strong will. All this comes to her effortlessly.”
It’s hard to gauge too much from the character description, but you’d have to imagine this as someone who falls on the good side rather than the bad. After all, a strong sense of humor doesn’t seem to fit very well with those stuffy officious First Order goons does it?
As always it will be interesting to see how this casting call matches up with the character we see on film when the movie is finally unleashed on the public.
Star Wars: Episode IX is due for release on 20 December 2019 and will be once again directed by JJ Abrams from a script written by Abrams himself and Chris Terrio.
