With Star Wars: The Last Jedi in the books, we have a rumored shooting location for the final installment of the trilogy. According to TheDailyRecord (via OmegaUnderground), J.J. Abrams, along with the cast and crew of Star Wars: Episode 9, will be heading to Scotland this summer to shoot on location.

While TheDailyRecord implies that this rumor and the shooting location are tied to Rian Johnson’s recently announced trilogy, that comes as a hard sell as Johnson himself said his pitch to Lucasfilm was as basic as could be, and more or less pitched the idea of possibility and of what could be. So without Johnson having an idea, let alone a script, it would be very unlikely that the new trilogy would start shooting this summer. OmegaUnderground notes that this is the same source who correctly predicted Scotland as a shooting location for Avengers: Infinity War.
Yes, sci-fi films such as Star Wars are dependent on CGI, but a franchise such as this also needs fantastic, real world locations, especially when Disney can shell out the capital to search and find unique places to bring into the Star Wars universe.
