Audiences had a chance to check in on the official trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX — a film we now know to be called Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This surprisingly proves that some seemingly non-credible reports were partially right. They may not have gotten the whole thing right, but it does prove they got some details correct.
But, of course, the title was just one part of it all. The real meat and potatoes are in the trailer, which started off with Rey on some desert planet. She sees an enemy fighter heading towards her, and as it approaches, she jumps up, seemingly ready to slice it in half in mid-air. What follows is a fanservice-filled sizzle reel including shots of Lando Calrissian, Chewie, Finn, Poe, and the rest of our heroes.
One particularly beautiful shot shows off Rey hugging Leia in what I assume is her final scene in the saga. Of course, the big question coming out of this one is “what does the title mean?” Which Skywalker is it referring to? And who the hell is the man laughing at the end? Is it Palpatine? If so, how does he fit into this whole thing?
So many questions! But, for the time being, feel free to complain about how stupid the title is in the comments down below!
