Star Wars: Fan Reimagines Darth Vader Vs. Obi-Wan Fight In A New Hope

If you’ve been a Star Wars fan for an extended period of time, you may have noticed some big changes between the three different trilogies. Yes, of course, there are plenty of story differences (OT is very archetypal, PT is overly-political and plot-based, ST takes things back to the core archetypal, character-focused roots), VFX differences (this is an obvious one) but more specifically, I’m talking about the differences in how the lightsaber fights are handled.

In the Original Trilogy, it’s a lot of two-handed, slow fights. The characters don’t move around much, and the only thing cool to watch are the actual glowing sabers. The Prequel Trilogy’s fights are more like dances. They don’t make a lot of practical sense, but they’re fun to watch. But what if we could take just a touch of the Prequel Trilogy’s lightsaber’s battles and bring them to the OT?

That’s exactly what the YouTube channel FXitinPost did. They took the fight between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader and gave it some much-needed umph. As it plays in the new scene, it no longer looks like a fight between two old men in a retirement home. Sure, there are some parts that look a bit cheap and fake, but it’s a solid effort considering what they were working with. I, for one, think the choreography makes a lot more sense than what we get in the PT, as most of the strikes are actually made to hit the opponent.
