Us ‘90s kids grew up with a lot of quality game show programming. I’m admittedly not in the loop as to whether or not that’s a thing at all these days with kids shows, but back when I grew up, they were all the rage. With shows like Guts and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? were staples of TV programming. And let’s not forget the king of them all: Legends of the Hidden Temple.

It looks like Disney+ is looking to bring back some of that action — but this time with a Star Wars skin pulled over it. With Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge — a Disney+ exclusive show — they will test contestants’ abilities in “strength, knowledge, and bravery as they face thrilling and fun obstacles in an attempt to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight!”

The show will be hosted by Ahmed Best, who fans know as Jar Jar Binks from the Prequel Trilogy. Of course, not everyone has fond memories of the character, but the fandom has slowly turned to appreciating some of the weaker aspects of the franchise as of late, and I hope this serves as a great way for Best to get some closure with the series.

“This is definitely a kids game show like no other,” says Lucasfilm’s senior director of Online Content & Programming, Mickey Capoferri. “The various challenges will test a Padawan’s connection to the Force in three locations — a forest planet, on board a Jedi star cruiser, and inside a Jedi Temple — immersing them and the audience in a fun, humorous, and exciting competition.”

“Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge brings together the best of Star Wars – competitive spirit, harrowing obstacles and a hero’s triumph over challenges – in a totally new format for the franchise,” said Dan Silver, vice president, Originals – Unscripted Content, Disney+. “A game show set in the Star Wars galaxy is a perfect fit for Disney+.”
