Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – The Latest Trailer Has Cal Looking For Something Precious To The Empire

We’ve seen a few trailers and some gameplay already for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the new game coming out for consoles and PC from EA on November 15th this year. The story revolves around a young Jedi Padawan called Cal Kestis as he survives the purge of the Emperor’s Order 66, and goes on his own adventure. It doesn’t take much to work out this game is set not long after the events of Revenge of the Sith, but this latest trailer also gives us a little more on the plot of the game.

It seems like after initially just surviving and running from the Empire’s Inquisitor, Cal and his new friends are hunting for some MacGuffin, which the Empire are also desperate to retrieve for themselves. It looks as though the story of the game will see Cal follow a set of clues taking him to various different locations whilst being hunted by the Empire. We also see what look like one or two boss battles in this trailer, first the Inquisitor, but also a monster and what looks like a baton wielding Stormtrooper.

As a Star Wars fan, I have long been looking for more variation of Star Wars games to get into, though thus far haven’t been that impressed with EA as a developers. My worry for this game is that it feels like a shinier version of The Force Unleashed, which whilst fun in the early levels, for me got extremely repetitive towards the end of the game as endless never ending hordes of troopers went against you. So I am hoping this game has a bit more variation in the RPG aspects and some slower paced sections. I don’t want another game where my right thumb is on fire due to constantly tapping the lightsaber combat buttons at super-sonic speeds.

Given my scepticism, I plan to wait for a while before picking this game up, my experience with EA games tends to be that they end up good at some point, but usually launch in an incomplete state with a ton of bugs. With a single player focussed game, I have no real rush to pick it up either, so happy to wait for the reviews once the players get their hands on the game.
