One of the stars of The Last Jedi that has not seen much time within promotional trailers and images so far is Rose Tico, aka Kelly Marie Tran. She’s there all right, but doesn’t appear at this point to be in the limelight in the same way she was in The Last Jedi where she arguably had as big a role as Isaac or Boyega.

Speaking with Digital Spy and other media outlets Tran recently teased a different role for Rose Tico in the Skywalker Saga finale The Rise of Skywalker.

“Before, Rose was a new character who was in maintenance and she was not a huge part of the Resistance. But now she’s in the Resistance in a big way and it’s very cool. I had to learn everything that had to do with being in a war, like holding a gun. I’ve never held a gun before. Things like that, that you don’t even think about when you’re watching this movie. We’re all real people living real lives, we don’t shoot arrows off horses normally, so we have to learn every little thing. There’s so much detail and so much work that goes into everything.”

Shoot arrows off Horses? Well, we are familiar with a horse scene from the trailer, but would anyone living in a reality with blaster weapons actually attempt to shoot an arrow, one of the most archaic weapons of warfare? How about just use a one handed blaster, which will do more damage than any arrow ever devised (maybe other than Rambo’s explosive tipped beauties)?

From what we have heard, Rose is now in a more senior position within the Resistance/Rebellion (never sure which they are now). Though, that is to be expected considering there was only enough Resistance members left to fit in the Millennium Falcon by the end of The Last Jedi. Whilst we don’t know this for certain, I think most fans are predicting the death of Leia Organa in this movie, considering the real life death of Carrie Fisher, who passed away sadly after completing The Last Jedi. That may well leave a gap in leadership, and perhaps Rose Tico steps up, maybe not quite to General level, but who knows?

The Rebellion need a leader who can teach them that they should not kill what they hate, but save what they love after all. All joking side, we will only be able to judge her character on the events in the movie, which of course, we have not seen yet. But I do not like the idea of shooting arrows from horseback, this is not a Genghis Khan biopic. Those arrows better have tank killing warheads on the end, because if I’m to believe Stormtrooper armor is being pierced by flimsy little arrows…… again, I’m gonna be pissed.
